Week 3

Today we did Intaglio printing. This involves making incisions on a plate ten printing it onto some damp paper. First place a piece of thick paper in a bath of water then place it between something so that it can wring out the water. After this ink is applied to the plate using a dabber (When applying the ink make sure you don't use to much as this will take you more time to wipe off later). After applying the ink use a rubber finger to push the ink into the lines you engraved. Next you use a mesh cloth to wipe off the ink untill the plate is clean. If the plate is still slightly inky, use a small square of paper and rub the plate using the tips of your fingers. Once you have done this take your piece of moist paper and place your plate ink side down onto it. Afterwards lay a piece of tissue paper over the top followed by the carpets (which help the paper get pushed between the inky incisions on your plate). Then you use the roller press to print your image. Finally you leave your picture to dry.

Week 2

Today we did sun prints which uses paper that reacts with the sun to leave an image on the paper. We placed random objects onto the paper and left it in the sun for 2 minutes. When we retrieved it we removed the objects and brushed a layer of water on the paper. Later on once the paper had dried we were left with an image of our objects.

We also did mono and relief printing. To do a mono print you have to roller a smooth layer of ink onto a plate. You then place a piece of paper very lightly on top of the plate. Then you draw a picture using pencils, pens or even your finger/nail. Take the paper off of the plate and you then have your mono print. In order to do the relief print you need to use the plate of ink you used to do the mono print. First you need to place a sheet of paper onto the plate. Using the roller machine you roller over the plate with the paper on. You are then left with the relief print. Both the mono and relief print will have the same image on just one will be in negative and the other, positive.

A blog is a bit like an online diary or journal where you can discuss a particular topic with others or just write about your day to day activities.

Who uses a blog?

Loads of people use blogs for lots of different reasons. Some use it to share information about upcoming events, their day to day life, particular topics such as what someone thinks of a certain film or band etc.

How do you embed an image into your blog?

To embed an image go to edit post and click on the image icon on the tool bar at the top of the editing box.

How do you embed a youtube video into your blog?

To embed a youtube video into your blog you firstly need to find the video you want on youtube and copy the embed code. You then go onto your blog and click on the tab that says 'edit HTML' which is located above a post when you go to edit it. Next you paste the embed code and click the tab next to the 'edit html' tab which says 'compose'. Your video should then show on your post.
